Author Jens Balzer is the living proof that feuilleton journalism can be clever and humorous and further, that music journalism can be exact and vivid.
His greatest art is the critique. The vice-department head in the feuilleton of the Berliner Zeitung, Pop-Critique lecturer, and columnist for »Rolling Stone« magazine is so full of relish at creating pointed neologisms and nomenclature, that a writing competition for Balzer-imitations was recently proclaimed. His latest book »POP« is daring the incredible project of a »Panorama of the Present – From Helene Fischer to Sunn O)))«. It’s an action-packed thrilling ride to the lightest and darkest moments of contemporary Pop music.
Together with fellow Pop expert, radio host and journalist Jenni Zylka (taz, Tagesspiegel, ZEIT) Balzer aims to continue this ride on our stage.
