With Jon Haege’s White Wine this already happened a couple of times after all. Haege, the former singer, and musician in the bands Menomena, 31 Knots and Tu Fawning, moved from Los Angeles to Leipzig to form a turbulent trio with Fritz Brückner and Christian „Kirmes“ Kühr, performing nothing less than rich Cabaret-Garage-Pop. And thus Haege, always neatly hair-dressed and in a suit, is trashing venues in a nice regularity. No audience is safe from this relentless performer. Consider yourself warned!

Love messages from Belfast: Girls Names dedicated their fourth and latest album, »Arms Around a Vision«, to the European elegance: Italian futurism, Russian constructivism, the Düsseldorf artist group ZERO, around Heinz Mack and Otto Piene as well as the destructive Berlin of Einstürzende Neubauten and David Bowie. That’s a lot. Now, how is that kind of music supposed to sound? And how on earth are we supposed to move to it. These are questions you might ask yourself. Well, it’s quite simple. Girls Names present us with a laid-back and smart hybrid of cold Wave and Post Punk. Sometimes two synths are stacked over the guitars. You can either nod your head knowingly or you can shake your bones – both moves will fit the music. The pleasantly cool Nordic quartet will make it easy for you.

The alternative pop that Cat’s Eyes make is heavenly. It’s as simple as that. It’s not for nothing that the British-Canadian Duo played their music in the Vatican as well as the Buckingham Palace. Well, okay. In both cases, Rachel Zeffira and Faris Badwan tricked security and played spontaneous secret gigs. Then again, no one in either Vatican or Buckingham Palace noticed the faux pas too quickly. Badwan used to play the tall shock master in The Horrors. Nowadays, the band is mostly known for epic psychedelic excursions and was awarded a European Film Prize for the soundtrack of the movie »The Duke of Burgundy«. Well done! In Cat’s Eyes, classical music meets John Carpenter and Opera meets Proto-Pop from the 60’s. Badwan and Zeffira don’t have to hide from bands out of that era either. This fact is emphasized by their second album »Treasure House«, which will be premiered in Germany at Pop-Kultur.
